my Eclectic Endeavours

I had another conference to attend. Thank goodness there were treats being served this time. Here's a sketch of the mini blueberry muffins I'd devoured and was about to scarf down. :)

Here they are all wrapped up like teenie tiny gifts. :)

I began unwrapping these lil gems the moment I got home. I wanted to test them out as soon as possible. Boy! What a difference from my lil ol' Crayola set. Ha! The color is so much richer!

My lil guy and I had grabbed some lunch at Pei-Wei and I took a pic of him with my cell. So, I decided to sketch the image from the cell phone and play with my new watercolors.

I wasn't aiming for a realistic feel. Lately, my concentration is on illustrating for children's books someday. Thing is, someday doesn't come all on its own. I'm the one who needs to take initiative. So, why not begin practicing? ;o)

Here's what I came up with during some down time at work. I only had PowerPoint to play with since there are no Adobe programs at work. Ha!

These are a few tidbits I've designed for the patterns & practices team at Microsoft. Don't ask me what they're about because I'm still not sure. Ha! Good thing I have Nelly, from the team, to assist in deciphering the technical aspect and design elements. :)

I've always wanted to be published. It's not what I'd envisioned by it's just as awesome! :) My designed images are a part of this book for Microsoft's patterns & practices group.

The images were printed in black and white but looked great! :)

I designed this logo for my design business. :) Basically it's based on my son's initials and the letters make a chair facing a computer on a desk. That's kinda what my desktop computer looks like. (The one I barely touch now a days)

I designed clos for a client who was starting up his photography business. I love his work! :)

I fell on this one by accident and cleaned up an original logo that the group had.

My friend Cyndi gave me a chance to design a logo for an internal group of Verizon. It was my first client logo design. :)

I call my character, Diego. I wrote a children's book for a creative writing class and illustrated the images. So, i used the image as a cover page for one of my sketchbooks. :)

After student teaching and learning about deconstruction books last year, I decided to make one for myself and introduce my lil guy to it. A deconstruction book is a book that is altered through art. The author of the book I chose would probably be thoroughly disappointed especially since I purchased two identical books with the intention of converting 'em into deconstruction books.

Today my lil guy and I skipped school and work after waking up feeling sick. Since I'd bought some canvases at Wally World (a.k.a. Wal-mart) yesterday, we decided to paint. I attempted to use the Right Brain approach with my son so that he would focus on the form, not the figure. I scanned an image from "Anatomy for Artists" by Marion Boddy-Evans; a book that my lil guy gave me for my birthday. :) I scanned the image so that I wouldn't get paint on the book. For a six year old with not much exposure to acrylics, I think he did a great job! I haven't taught him to use paints, yet, but that's in the works.

In an attempt to rid my mind of strenuous thoughts, I decided to grab the scanned image and write all over it. I used a black household ink pen and marked up the body. I think I like this one enough to produce a finalized piece. Yeah... I think that's what I'll do. Uh huh.
